When considering the microarchitectures, what are the main problems that are faced by the micto architects presently?

Things have changed drastically since I had to answer questions like that.  I'll tell you what I'll do for you - if you'll send me your school text book, I'll read up on that chapter, answer your question (in my spare time, of course), and then send back both the book and the answer (at your expense, of course).
