  1. For non- drug related holidays:

Anne Frank House, several museums such as the Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum, Architecture, canals (and canaltrips)

Also known : Windmills, Keukenhof, Volendam, Enkhuizen - while these are not IN Amsterdam, they are within easy reach of the city.

The Red-Light District as well, although they are talking about shutting it down completely.

Of course for the less intelligently inclined, there are the coffeeshops and 'smartshops' (for now), but frankly, we are getting a bit fed up with people who just come for drugs, and then causing all kinds of trouble because they don`t know what they are doing.

  2. Right when I got into Amsterdam, I stopped in at a tourist information center and bought and I Amsterdam pass which included entrance into a lot of stuff plus discounts and even 2 canal cruises- it was a great deal.

Aside from the drug and s*x stuff...

We saw, Bloemengarten - the flower markets which were beautiful

Canal Cruises - we went on several

    Van Gogh Museum

    Anne Frank House

    Dutch Reistance Museum

This really old and very cool greenhouse

    Heineken Beer Tour

    Diamond Tours

    Hemp Museum

    Rejistik National Museum

Basically just walking around and enjoying the scenery and architecture. The canals are gorgeous!

  3. Anne Frank Huis, Van Gogh museum, Red Light District, canal tours, Oude Kerk, cannabis cafes

  4. the girls :D

  5. There are many different museums, you'll surely find a few which will interest you. Personally I liked NEMO (http://www.e-nemo.nl/en/) a hands on museum about science best.

    Rijksmuseum (http://www.rijksmuseum.nl/index.jsp?lang...

    Van Gogh Museum (http://www3.vangoghmuseum.nl/vgm/index.j...

    Stedelijk Museum (http://www.stedelijk.nl/)

    Anne Frank Huis (http://www.annefrank.org/content.asp?pid...

    Tropenmuseum (http://www.tropenmuseum.nl/smartsite.sht...

    Just to name a few.

I think Madame Tussaud's (http://www.madametussauds.nl/english/ind... ) is overrated and too expensive, but maybe you'll like it.

I'd really recommend to visit as many of the wonderful (flea-)markets, which you'll find all over Amsterdam, as you can. I always enjoy the Albert-Cuyp-Market and a lovely second hand book market on the Spui.

The flea market on Waterlooplein and of course the famous Flower Market or Bloemenmarkt between Konigsplein and Muntplein are definitely worth a visit as well.

Most importantly, take your time. Don't run from one museum to the other, rather choose only a few you really want to see, and spend the rest of your time strolling through the city and sitting outside the small cafes. Just go into the Vondelpark and sit down at the lake.

There are so many beautiful and interesting things to see in Amsterdam, too many to see everything in just a few days, but what I always loved about the city was it's relaxed but lively atmosphere.

One last thing, the best and cheapest way to get around the city would probably be to rent a bicycle.
