Question:

What are the major farming/ag publications?

I'm trying to find out which publications farmers read. I have been told Farm Show is a common one around Indiana (where I am based).

I am interested in equipment/machinery based publications where I could market my company's new tissue digester. Farm Show Mag is writing an article on the equipment now, but I'd like to branch out a bit more.

Thank you in advance.

  1. We recieve Farm Show.  Not that impressed with it.

    Grassland Farmer is great

We love Countryside & Small Stock Journal.

We also love Small Farmers Journal (geared toward farmers who still farm with Draft horses, and Draft mules).

    Backwoods home is nice also.

Hobby Farms has been a suprise magazine for me.  Didn't think I'd enjoy it, but I actually do.  The articles are suprisingly well written and provide a lot of information.

As for your tissue digester, how expensive is it?  How big a piece of tissue are you talking about?

If you are talking about something that digests an entire cow, or pig, you probably want to hit magazines/ag publications that are aimed specifically at them (dairy and hog farmers).

I'm in Idaho, the heart of potato country.  There are also a LOT of dairy farms here.  I was rather suprised at the pile of dead cows I saw at one dairy.

On our farm, we burry animals that died, and compost the "left overs" from butchering.
