  1. Rail - from almost all directions there are lots of direct trains,

Air - Gatwick airport is very near and has direct train, road and bus connections in a very short time,

road, direct and quick routes from all directions, sea - nearest link = Newhaven (quite near) with Links to le havre and Dieppe

    enjoy Brighton (its great!)

  2. The main station is Brighton Station, which is at the end of Queens Road.. If you walk straight down the road you will get to Brighton's main shopping district.

However, if you want to get to the more residental areas, you should go to London Road Station, which is on Ditchling Rise.. This is a 2 minute walk to another shopping area.. Or Preston Park Station which is on Old London Road, this is a residentual area though.

A train ticket from London wil cost around £13 return and trains to and from Brighton and the surrounding stations will only cost around £3-£6 returns.

However, the best way to travel around the city is by bus. All buses go through the centre of Brighton. One fair will cost you £1.70 or £1.20 if you are only travelling within the centre (Old Steine to Churchil Sq.) The cheapest way is to buy a CitySaver for £3.20.

If you were to fly, i suggest Gatwick, which is the nearest. But this is still a 45minute drive, or a 25minute train journey from the centre of Brighton. Trains from Gatwick cost £7.

As for sea links.. Unless you can swim i help you there!!

  3. from london by rail you can get the victoria to london Southern trains service, or you can get first capital connect from london bridge/st pancras/farringdon.

  4. Gatwick airport is not far away north up the A23. There is a good rail link to London. Nearest sea link is east down the A259 to Newhaven -Dieppe [4 hour ferry].
