What are the major ski organizations in the United States and please explain their functions?

hey, I'm doing the snow sports merit badge for Boy Scouts and I really need help with this question

  1. I'll give you some organizations to look up. No offense, but as a councilor for this badge, I'm simply not going to give you the complete answer.

    The US Ski Team...of course.

    USSA

    PSIA

    NATO

    NSP

    ASIA

    NSAA

    FIS

    IOC

    IPC

    USARC

    There are others, but if I were your councilor and you knew what these were and what they did, I'd check you off on that question.


  2. If you check the open questions, in this same group, you'll find someone else has asked this question and got several good answers.  One addition to them is that NASTAR is an amateur race organization designed to allow a skier from one area to compare their skills with another nation wide.  NASTAR stands for National Standards Race, they have a final in the spring for all age groups to crown the champion.
