1. ok when u asking this question u gotta realize that martial arts arent based on body types, some things might be diff cuz one guy was taller or one guy was faster, but any martial art u take will adhear to u whether u short or tall, fat skinny or buff, you also gotta take into considerations what it is in a system ur looking for, if u want to just compete and wrk out some rage then any form of kickboxing is good, also ud be welterweight, which is between light and middle weight, if ur lookinf for something to help u win a street fight then something like karate or krav-maga would be good becasue both deal with vital striking and have a real gritty outlook on how to fight, if ur into grappling then wrestling bjj or jujutsu(japaneese jiu-jitsu) is wat ur looking for, dont let anyone confuse u or persuade u to do one or the other because all are good for you for both compititon or real fighting, some might be stronger in one area than the other but they help, also y only do one, iv been doing karate since i was four and also wreslte, i got my stand up and street fighting game down and my ground game covered,

  2. heavy weight kickboxing, or light weight, i dunno ur like right in the middle between heavy weight and light weight, but kickboxing is ur best bet.

  3. 5'7 165, for a wrestler is not bad, ur closer to the ground and will have an edge in take downs and sprawls, i would suggest on of the grappling arts judo, and jj,

it seems u might be a be a bit short for kickboxing but that means nothing since alot of the best thai fighters are small compared to the rest of us,

but ur smaller stockier limbs would give u an edge in grappling

  4. Grappling arts would be best. I suggest Aikido, or maybe Sambo.

  5. Tai Chi is suitable you for self-defence or exercise purpose.

  6. gaining muscle will burn fat. you need cardio.

you can gain more flexibility. with your stocky figure you'd be good at any art that isnt too flashy.

good suggestions....karate, judo, wrestling. would fit you well i'd think.

  7. check out my site you can see what are your negatives and positives based on what you like such as kicking, punching, grappling, etc.

  8. Do want you want and don't let others stop you from succeeding!! If you aren't interested in it you probably won't stick with it. Your body will morph as you progress.

I was 39 in 2001 when I started Goju-Ryu Karate. I stand 5'1" and during my training hit 196 lbs. I am now a Black Belt and a size 6. I have 2 children, 13 & 23, informatory bowel disease, 4 abdominal surgeries, carpal tunnel surgeries, and hip surgery to remove bone fragments from a childhood injury. My 13 year-old has been doing it since he was 5. It looked like fun and I wanted the exercise.

    Good Luck!! Have FUN!!!

  9. I see. The Southern Shaolin Temple , I supposed.

But where can you find a Shaolin Monk to be your master.

This is also a big question.

  10. you can not do wushu, your body type is not at all good for wushu, it requires a lot of flexibility .i would go with muay thai or vale tudo and wrestling.

  11. you can do any martial art you want that body type stuff is in most peoples head if you train hard at it you can excel in any style and to loose weight try to eat 1000 calories a day but no sugar, low carbs, and high protien.

  12. kickboxing is probably the best choice for you, if you want to learn wushu however, you may still be successful only with a great deal of sacrifice, you can try do boxing and ballet at the same time for conditioning, and do horse stance as long as you can, after around 6 months or so conditioning to give you flexibility and tendo strength you can then start to do some real wushu, in which a quality trainer is very hard to find beside mainland China, but again, by joining authentic Chinese wushu team you need to know how to speak Chinese and don't mind to train with some under 10 years old kids. Of course if you do have enough determination after 3 or 5 years training you can reach a pretty good levl.

  13. where do these stupid ppl get these stupid answers?
