If possible, the ancient Mayan words. If not, the native language spoken today will do.

o_O Unless they're the same.

I don't really know anything about the language, but I want to know those two words.

  1. There are different Mayan languages, but the most popular in modern-day media and popular culture is "Yucatec Maya", or "Yucatan Maya", the native speakers simply call it "Maya".

Mel Gibson's movie "Apocalypto" was shot entirely in the Yucatec Maya language.

Mayan word for King/Queen is Tepal (like you said they are the same) because Tepal means "ruler" and a ruler can be a king or a queen.
