  1. I'd say that the major advantage is its ability to respond to rapidly varying load.

    The disadvantage is the smoke emission which indirectly causes pollution and the problem in the transportation of coal to the plant


  2. Merits: probably the cheapest power source available, and greater reserves than other fossil fuels.

    Demerits: greatest CO2 production; sulphur dioxide and other pollution; cost of transport of solid fuel.

    We haven't built one in 30 years.

    The merits of them are that they give you power at an affordable price.

    The demerits is that when the environmentalist Whackos control congress, progress goes backwards.

    That's why china will take over the world economically, politically, socially, and militarily. THey dont' have environmentalist whackos .
