When you are doing a graft, instead of completely removing say, a section of material to graft another, the graft instead is done without the removal of whatever portion is being replaced, until the graft is mostly healed. You can use whatever products you would normally use be it a tape, wax, whatever.


  2. Inarching is a method of  grafting a root, or branch of another (stock) in such a way that a union will be formed and the partners will continue to grow. This term includes budding (bud grafting) and grafting proper (scion grafting and approach grafting or inarching). Budding and grafting proper differ only in the amount of plant material placed on the stock.

    Inarching is sometimes called repair grafting.  When a mature tree is damaged such as root damage one or more young trees grafted to the trunk of the damaged tree and thew will gradually take over for the parent root system.  Trees that have been girdled can be saved the same way.
