I'm currently a student learning how to paint. After my first semester in painting we had to buy some Gesso and I bought a gallon for $50. It went to half a gallon after two coats on my 6ftx4ft and 32'x44' paintings. Like most students I'm trying to save a few bucks. I figure I might not end up keeping some of might paintings. But I also know that I could make something that somebody might like. Anyways I think I got my point across, so far I've found only http://www.cheapjoes.com/art-supply/JPG-128_4593_joes-prime-really-good-gesso-oz.aspandhttp://www.dickblick.com/zz006/82/. I use oil paints. Are those worthy alternatives? Anybody with experience with those brands? Should I stick to my $50 gallons? Are there any other brands and manufacturers I should consider?
