If you're writing a screenplay for Disney you are apparently required by law to convince your audience that a well-loved character has died. Stretch this scene out for as long as possible without making it scarringly traumatic for younger audience members, at which point you have the 'dead' character open his/her eyes for an utterly miraculous resurrection. Extra points if this happens due to the unmistakable Power of Love. If you're really good, you can power-up a resurrected character with enough juice for a sequel.
