  1. It all depends on what you are trying to do.  There are all sorts of drills that are going to help you but first you have to identify what part of the game are you working on.  Are you looking to work on your serve, your passing, your hitting, your setting or your blocking or even your overall conditioning.  The hitting in a circle may help with your ball control but it's not going to teach you a single thing about footwork to set a block just as a blocking drill isn't going to help you set at all.

If you're looking for drills, a quick search on yahoo or google can probably give you many sites.  Try this link: http://volleyball.about.com/od/drills/Vo...

  2. SOME OF THE MOST OF THE EFFECTIVE DRILL IS VOLLEYBALL ARE SCRIMAGE, AND TO WORK ON BLOCKING AND SERVES OVER A NET WITH A HARD HAND.

  3. bumps- get into pairs of 2 bump back and forth see how many u can do. If they're is only one person just try to bump high

setting- get into pairs of 2 bump set and forth see how many u can do.

spiking- get into a hitting line have the setter in the setter spot and have someone toss it to the hitter who bumps the ball to the setter the setter sets it and the hitter hits it.

  4. if your working with a big group...it would be effective to play king/queen of the court. and do hitting and passing lines...butterfly is a really good way to shape up your skills.

if its just one person...you could just bump it to yourself or hit the ball against a wall for awhile.

  5. The most effective drill depends on what your team is like. If you have a lot of height, then you will probably be a stronger offensive team. Try lots of hitting practice to make sure that your hitters have a good connection with your setter(s).

If your team is on the shorter side, try defensive drills. A good defensive drill is called Touch 7.

    Direction:

Break your team into groups of two.

The coach then stands at the net and throws volleyballs at hard-to-reach spots on the court. The two players on the court have to communicate with each other and get a total of two touches (one from each player) to have that ball count. Keep throwing the balls, even if the players get tired (it builds stamina), until the "team" reaches 7 touched balls.

  6. Any drills that focus on game like situations plus skills.

For hitting, you could have your three hitters hitting, the setter setting, and three people blocking the hits. Then the hitters can learn to hit around the block, and blockers will practice blocking, ect.

So, basically a scrimmage like situation.

  7. getting in the circle and hitting

another good one is form two vertical lines and stand about 5-10 ft. apart and pass back and fourth, after you pass the ball run two the end of the other line

  8. Dog House, or King/Queen of ...

  9. form a circle and hit to 1 another
