it's my understanding that large rock falls underwater cause the worst tsunamis.

there was a very interesting example of a rock slide into an enclosed bay, that drove waves 500' up the walls around the bay.

someone in a boat apparently survived -- i've no idea how.

however, places like hawaii can be very dangerous because rock builds up near the surface of the ocean, and can break off.  i think that they're worried about a particularly large chunk at the moment.

there's also a cliff in the canary islands, if i remember correctly, that's causing concern.

linklyons has said it he talks about the mega tsunami which is more than 20 meters high ,

these kind of tsunamis are the most destructive.

There is one aimed for the east coast of America from the canaries ,but no one can predict as to when the mountain will slide into the seas to cause it .

Tsunami which is arising from Indonesian Island ( Indian Ocean)is Most Harmful. Four years back Tsunami killed morethan 2 lac people in Indonesia, Srilanka, India, Malaysia, singapore etc.

It raised upto 30 feet high and washed away all tress/ buildings/Ships/ Boats wihin 5 seconds. In many places sea water entered into Cities  and damaged all things.
