There are so many factors that go into producing a gutiar tone that I'm not sure where to start improving my rig. I play an Epiphone SG remake with factory pickups, and use a GNX 3000 for effects. I have no amp at the moment, but maybe I'll pick one up if someone can lead me in the right direction. I'd really like to emulate a good death metal tone like the one used by Dethklok. Any advice?

  1. Epiphone SG  is a well made guitar it sound like you need a hotter bridge pickup Reed James custom pickups, you can tell them what tone your looking for and i use them my self the best i ever owned tone for days i have bean playing guitar for 35 years

  2. hmm i'd talk to a guitar store person, and describe what you want.  because dethklok isnt really a band you can look for the same amp that they have... because they are just off a TV show.

  3. Well if you want HARDCORE METAL like DETHKLOK then I'm going to suggest you one look at the equipment there guitarist have. Probably a Marshall or Line 6 amp. ALso i suggest you replace the humbuckers on your guitar with either a EMG 85 /85 combo or a EMG 81/ 85 combo(if you play lead and rhythm) since they have a fatter tone to them.
