  1. The direct correlation between what you are saying and my Interest or lack-there-of.


  2. whether or not we really care about what is being said.

  3. Your experience of listening to speaker with similar personality and the knowledge about the topic being voiced.  

    If you think about it, the best listener is a psychologist or counsellor and that's because they've seen the same problem days in days out.  They don't need any energy to uncode what you are saying, they can almost guess what the situation is.  With this spare brain energy, they can give the most appropriate empathy statement and ask the right questions.

    Listening, like other skills, is by practice.

  4. Well first of all you must be interested in the conversation, or really your mind dosent want to focus. So if it is a boring topic, change it up a little.

  5. Ears are a big one for me personally. Both the inner and the outer ear.

  6. Humility, compassion and respect.
