What are the most important features of a good board game?

When you are looking for a good board game what are the most important things you look for? Is it originality, the fun factor, a combination of these, or something else entirely?

I am looking to develop a good rating system based on the most important features to board game players.

I like the ones where everyone can interact together, it gets everyone involved in the unexpected. Another favorite is word games, love them.

Defiantly both combined! When I play a new board game I want to play something that I haven't played before, or anything similar to it. It also must be fun. Who wants to play a boring game? Also the directions must be easy to follow. I hate playing a game where the directions take longer to read then the actually playing of the game itself. But most importantly something the entire family can enjoy.

Life is my favorite board game. =)

a good board game has to be fast moving any thing where u have to wait like 20 mins for your turn bores me Also it cant be too complicated if reading the instructions takes as long as playing the game i dont wanna play and of course it has to be fun
