I know the main thing is to put on your seatbelt which I ALWAYS do anyway and to come to a complete stop at stop signs.Anything else?

  1. I'm not sure where you live, but I'm assuming that the basics are going to be the same everywhere. I'm getting ready to take my road test as well, so here's a few things I'm focusing on:

-Make sure you have a complete knowledge of all the controls in your car. Seriously. It's the first thing they check during your exam.

-Always adjust your mirrors and seat before you put your seatbelt on and start moving.

-When lane changing, make sure you mirror check AND shoulder check. Just a quick glance back far enough to see the rear passenger window is fine.

-Watch closely when you get to school/playground zones. Your speed must be at the limit when you get to the sign, you can't start slowing down once you get there. Also, some school zones are in effect yearly, so be careful with that as well.

If you get all of that, you should be fine. Oh, just as long as you don't jump the curb while parallel parking. ;-)

    Good luck!

  2. Remember to look both ways before going through intersections and railroad crossings.  In Michigan you get 2 points every time you do forget, and it's enough to make you fail by itself.  You don't have to slow down or anything if you've got a green light, but a quick glance to make sure that no one is running the red as you're approaching is important.

Also RELAX!  Presumably you've practiced lots already, I'm sure you'll be fine!  You know you know how to drive, or you wouldn't have scheduled your test already.  So just get in the car and drive! :)
