What are the most important things to discuss on the Holocaust?

Im a current freshman and im helping my mom teach a class on WW1 WW2 Vietnam and The Holocaust because this past year my class stuied these events.unfortunitly we only have about a day for each but we are going to a museam that will teach them more indeph. But i dont know what are the most important events and people that need to be studied.

  3. What you teach all depends on what you want the students to get out of it.  If you want them to realize that it is up to them to take action then you may want to focus on how indifference on the part of many people allowed Hitler to become so powerful.  

    If you want to develop empathy you may focus on a particular person (depending on the age of the students) like Anne Frank and how her life was.  

    If you wanted to focus on the horrors of genocide (a problem that is still occurring  today in countries like Darfur) you would focus on the concentration camps... etc.

    A day is hardly enough to study this topic.
