I am a Jamaican living in the US who would like to return to Jamaica after college. I am getting my degree in Business Administration but I would like to know more about the economy since I have not lived there for a while I am not that familiar but I know there has always been a complain about there are no jobs.

So how difficult is it to get a well paying job to live a decent life in Jamaica?

How do you think the Jamaican economy will be in the next 5 years?

  2. Jamaica is doing okay right now...I dont live there, but my family does, and I visit often...I honestly think that the JLP will be able to lure more foreign investment into the island, or at least encourage people to rely on some of the social programs implimented by the PNP less...either way the recent change in leadership will be good for the economy overall.

I would imagine that the best industries to get into right now would be either Aluminum or Sugar...if you have any formal education in hospitality, you know that the travel industry is always going to be a safe bet...especially in JamDown...

  3. There are many, many women in executive positions in Jamaica. More there than in the U S, I have been told.

People have a decent, happy life there. It is more social (people actually visit each other) than the US. People work there to live...I think its the opposite in the U S.

Tourism is big there but there are so many other careers to look into.
