What type of air rifle pellets do you prefer and for what reason? Where would I be able to purchase extremely high power pellets on-line? Or should I go to a hunting supply store? What would be cheaper? Thanks for you help. Jose

  1. Check out the page below. It's helpful, because it gives the weight of each different kind of pellet.

I really like the Crow Magnums because they are hollow point and while they are pretty heavy, they are not SO heavy as to really slow down velocity. I have also shot the Silver Arrow pellets on this page. They are very accurate and hit like a truck because they are heavy, but they did chronograph several hundred fps slower because of their weight.

These were both shot out of a RWS model 48 and 34 in .177.

I think the best thing for you to do, is buy a couple different tins of quality name brand pellets, and see which works the best in your rifle.

  2. beeman magnums pack a wallop. in terms of "powerful" no such thing exists, the ammout of impact energy will depend on the velocity of the slug, which will depend on your airgun, even the best airguns are hard pressed to fling lead at more that 1200fps, and it is typically accepted that 1000fps is the standard. in which case it comes down projectile weight: the heavier the pellet, the more energy it carries.

in terms of which i prefer: the pointy winchester ones because they're cheap as chips and put hole sin paper as well as birds.
