  2. 1) get lost

    2) fish and vegetable open air market by Rialto Bridge

    3) Melange (hot chocolate) at Quadri's in San Marco square.

  3. A visit to the Doge's Palace which is located right next to the Duomo, a tour of the islands and a walk through the narrow streets, away from the busy tourist areas.

  4. Also take a boat ride to Murano Island to visit 'the' official Murano glass factory where you can watch the guys sweating in 99deg heat sculpting moulten glass in the ovens.  Then get on the boat again for Burano Island to visit 'the' place that's known for the lace production (dresses, tablecloths, etc etc & more etc).

  5. ride in a gondola.

    EAT great food.

    go to museums.

  6. As a Venitisn, I have to say it is not easy to answer.

We often avoid the crowded places like san Marco's Square could be. But if you come to Venice, once in a lifetime, you must go there. We tend to priviledge more the old things then the modern: we could suggest all the Basilicas (every sestriere [one of the 6 parts of the city] has a main church that is the Basilica), the Doge's Palace, Accademia Galleries, Cà Rezzonico. If you like more contemporary things, go to the Guggenheim Collection, to Palazzo Grassi or the Biennale.

Then, if you have spare time, loose your way in the maze.

A gondola ride can be fun if you find the good gondolier who shows the right views.

Have a look at the city from the San Giorgio bell tower and go to the islands (Murano, Burano and Torcello) on a sunny day

Enjoy Venice, and respect it, please
