What are the names for different types of clouds?

There are, however, more than 27 different indentifiable types of clouds but Delta hit the major ones.

Based on the height of the cloud bases,there are three types,-- low,medium and high clouds.

Low cloud:-stratus,stratacumulus,cumulus and cumulonimbus,

Medium cloud:- altostratus and altocumulus,

high cloud:- cirrus,cirrostratus and cirrocumus.

Another type called 'nimbus' (which gives continuous rain)is usually combined with another cloud like nimbostratus ,cumulonimbus etc.
