The government is very corrupt and the "forests" are all privately owned by local tribal families and you must negotiate with each tribal group. And they for the most part do not trust outsiders. Too many bad experiences. And the tribes need health care and education facilities. Which is where the money goes.

Dense rainforests can be found in the lowland and coastal areas but they also have montane rainforests which are high-elevation rainforests. The only other type of forest that I found  is called 'swamp forest'.  These forest are found in the lowland area close to rivers and are exactly what they are called. The land is all swampy and is densely forested.
