  1. Google Sultanate of Sulu, Rajah Sulaiman, Lakan, Lapu-lapu and pre-colonial Philippines.

As to the above two who answered, you are both well meaning but lack facts. There wasn't just one Royal Family, but several. Thanks to 330 years Spanish colonialism, 50 years of American colonization, and 5 years of Japanese occupation, all except the Sultanate of Sulu survives.

  2. Sorry to inform you, however, there aren't any Filipino royal families. The beginnings of colonization of the Philippines started to take form when Philip II of Spain ordered successive expeditions. Miguel López de Legazpi arrived from Mexico in 1565 and formed the first Spanish settlements in Cebu. In 1571 he established Manila as the capital of the new Spanish colony. The name "Philippines" was actually named in honour of King Philip II of Spain.  The Philippine Revolution against Spain began in April of 1896, culminating two years later with a proclamation of independence and the establishment of the First Philippine Republic.

  3. Philippines never had a royal family.
