  1. .some paint

    .a couple of baby books

    .a little playouse

. a refigerator so they can put their snacks in it

  2. You'll need to register/pass licensing in your area. most likely a degree in early childhood is required to run your own center.

As far as what to put inside...find out what's required first, through licensing. Then you can look for supplies through www.kaplanco.com or www.lakeshorelearning.com which have lots to choose from.

  3. Did you go to school? Do you have a license?

These are the classes that you will need to become a preschool teacher. In some Colleges the names of the classes may be named different.

    Introduction to child Development

    Early child Education

    The preschool Child

    First and CPR (a must)

    Infant and toddler Development

    Development Psychology

    Home-Child-Community Relations

    Health and safety for Children

    Child Abuse Education

What College you go to the names of the classes maybe different and what you need to do is talk to a Couselor at the school that you are planning to go to and find out what classes that they have.

Also 3 to 6 units can get you to work as a Teachers Aid and also a class that you have signed up for. 12 or more can get to work as a Qualified Teacher. I have been a Teacher for 20 years and a Director for 5 months before I had to move back South.

I have a Degree in Social and Behavorial Sciences and it is in 4 areas. Teaching(children), Marrage and Family(children), Social worker Aid(Children),Couseling(children).

    I hope this will help.

  4. There are some good links on my website for information about starting a child care center.

    www.the-preschool-pages.com

  5. Contact your local job and family services and they will direct you to your area's licensing specialist - she will have all the information you will need.

  6. Since licencing requirements differ from area to area...find out what the requirements are and that will definately get you started with what is necessary for setting up a preschool.

I would suggest you decide what your philosophy is and what curriculum you are going to use.  This effects what is necessary to purchase.  I tend to lean more toward a play-based curriculum and definately recommend centers.

    Basic ones would be

Art- shelving, child's table, child's chairs, easel, drying rack, smocks, containers to hold supplies and art materials

Fine motor/writing:  shelving, child's table/chairs, paper rack, containers to whole supplies.

Table Toys:  shelving, table/chairs, puzzle racks, various manipultives and puzzles.

Science/Discovery:  small table/chairs, shelving, containers for materials, science materials

Blocks/Group area:  Shelving, large group carpet, various types of blocks...unit blocks, foam blocks, cardboard blocks, table blocks, cars, farm animals, etc.  This area is usually used for large group/calendar so you would like to outfit it with a small shelving unit for cd play etc.

Dramatic Play:  shelving, a good kitchen set...very small table and chairs, dramatic play clothing, supplies...please consider changing your dramatic play monthly...I've seen some with housekeeping all year long!

    Sensory/Table:  sand/water/sensory table-smocks, sensory toys.

Library:  children's couch/chairs, book stand, books on cd/tape, flannel/magnet board, puppets

    Computer:  computer and media, table/chairs

Teacher's corner---always paperwork so an adult desk and filing cabinent

Outdoors:  outdoor play area and equipment

Think about displays/b.b. etc. when purchasing supplies

Looking through a catalog such as Lakeshore Learning or Discount School Supply will give you a good idea of what you need and the cost.
