  1. it also wastes some of your time


  2. It costs more in labor to separate and truck the waste.

    BUT eventually the recycling will save up front costs for new materials which will save the consumer money in the long run.  It cost 5% of the cost to recycle an aluminum can into a new one rather than just create a new one.

    That is the only negative thing i can think of! :)

  3. Big business doesn't make as big a profit when recycling is used to augment the new input of goods (energy use goes down also--recycle versus production of new stuff).
