  1. The "newest" procedure from TSA is 3-1-1 concerning liquids in your carry-on luggage ONLY. Liquids in your checked baggage are fine.

Here's a link that explains the procedure in detail: http://www.tsa.gov/311/index.shtm

At the security checkpoint, have your bag of liquids already prepared (do this before you leave for the airport) and take it out of your carry-on. Also remove your jacket (if you're wearing one), shoes, and belt and put them in one of the bins at the checkpoint. Follow all TSA officers' instructions and try not to zone out, if you can.

Your cell phone, iPod, and digital camera are all allowed in your carry-on luggage (in fact, I'd recommend putting them in there - baggage handlers can be rough on your checked bags). Your cell phone will have to stay turned off (or put it on "airplane mode", if your phone has one) during the entire flight. Your iPod and digital camera can be used once you reach cruising altitude after taking off and you can keep using them until you begin approaching the airport (flight attendants will let you know).

Just relax and enjoy your flight - oh, and don't forget the chewing gum!!

  2. You cannot take these in your hand baggage-

-any sharp objects (metal/glass etc like nail clippers etc )

-Liquids (there is a cetain limit like 100ml i'm not sure, check out on the airline site for exact details)

-anything resembling weapons.. even toy guns.. i've seen a couple had to throw away their son's toys once.

You will need to take out shoes, belts, any metallic things you might have on - keys, coins, bracelets etc.. Best is to take off all such things and put them in your bag beforehand instead of taking them off at the security checkpoint and putting them in the trays they give.. my husband has forgotten his wallet once!

Same goes for cell phone , ipod, camera.. put everything away in your hand bag to avoid losing them or getting exchanged by mistake.

  3. You have to remove shoes, belt, etc when going through security. You have to turn your cell phone off during flight but the ipod and digital camera are fine after take-off and before landing.

  4. Put them in your carryon, not in your checked luggage.  Most airlines don't cover electronics stolen from checked luggage.

Security procedures are at www.tsa.gov - click on "for travelers".

  5. Have your boarding pass and ID ready before approaching the checkpoint.  Put shoes in the first bin so that you can slip into them on the other side while waiting for the rest to come through, slip on shoes are best.  Place laptop bag in bottom laptop on top so you can slide it in as soon as you receive it.  Step away from the belt to do any other things like putting on belts etc.  Happy landings.
