  1. The only trend I know of is that all public schools are suppose to follow NCLB law.

THis law mandates that all children are to read at grade level.

The way they find out if the child is reading at grade level is that the children have to take state tests every year.

The better the scores, the more money the school gets. These scores do not affect the childs grades whatsoever.

So because of all this, the new 'trend' is that teachers have to teach ONLY what is on these test so the kids can get better scores so the schools can get more money.

They are told by state and federal gov't HOW to teach, WHAT to teach, WHEN to teach, etc.

Teachers can not TEACH anymore and kids can not LEARN anymore.

The 'trend' now is for teachers to spoon feed information into children like robots so they can memorize it and make better scores on the state tests so the schools can GET MORE MONEY.

I don't see how there can even be a 'trend' that you are asking about  since this is how schools are suppose to teach now.

I have NEVER heard of a teacher that likes this set up. Most are sad, mad, and even leave the teaching profession.
