  3. Garlic has the allicin which is thought to reduce atherosclerosis and fat desposition. It is also thought to normalize lipoprotein balance, and decrease blood pressure, and have anti-filammatory activities.  Nobody is sure if it has all these benefits but it must have some.  In english it is good for the heard and for your cholesterol.

  4. Studies by competent multi-degreed scientists have shown beyond any reasonable doubt that consuming garlic generally has the following physical effects:

Garlic lowers blood pressure a little.

Garlic lowers LDL Cholesterol a little.

Garlic helps reduce atherosclerotic buildup (plaque) within the arterial system. One recent study shows this effect to be greater in women than men.

Garlic lowers or helps to regulate blood sugar.

Garlic helps to prevent blood clots from forming, thus reducing the possibility of strokes and thromboses (It may not be good for hemophiliacs).

Garlic's sulfur content is highest of all vegetables and three times higher than those vegetables known for their sulfur content--onions and broccoli. It is beneficial as a source of selenium, an important trace mineral for antioxidant activity that helps to slow down the aging process. Some biologists attribute Russia's and Bulgaria's impressive number of centenarians to the abundant quantities of garlic they consume.

Garlic does not contain fiber or fat

    Nutritional Benefits

Garlic is a mini-storehouse of minerals. Manganese, copper, iron, zinc, sulfur, calcium, aluminum, chlorine, and selenium are all part of the minerals contained in garlic. One hundred grams, or 3 1/2 ounces, of fresh garlic will supply the following:

    Copper 0.30 mg

    Iron 1.7 mg

    Manganese 1.12 mg

    Phosphorous 153 mg

    Selenium 14.2 mg

    Zinc 1.16 mg

  7. Garlic is not a wonder drug. It's a tangy herb. It's great in salads and all sorts of cooking. I put three crushed cloves in my salad this evening, and my wife often makes that wonderful French dish, chicken with 40 cloves of garlic (poulet avec 40 gousses d'ail.)

Garlic can be eaten crushed, raw, or it can be baked or sauted in oil.

Forget about "should be." Just enjoy the stuff.

  8. Garlic can help get rid of some types of intestinal parasites.

Garlic cloves and powdered fenugreek seeds will help relive the pain in the joints.

Another remedy for asthma is garlic.

Garlic can help reduce the probabilities of getting cancer.

Take 3 cloves of garlic in empty stomach every morning with water to stay healthy at heart.

Garlic helps in dilution of blood and hence avoids heart-attack.

    Lowers BP.

    Protects liver.

Try to add garlic when preparing ur daily food whenever possible.

    Cheers!

  9. Helps to lower your LDL(bad cholesterol)

  10. Besides that garlic tastes great in certain recipes, it has many health benefits.  It's been used as a topical solution for wounds and skin problems. It's also been used for intestinal disorders.  It's been known to reduce heart disease and cancer. It helps stimulate the immune system - it's a great antibiotic in some cases. I eat it quite a bit, but especially when I feel a cold coming on. It's been known to help with the flu, mosquitoes, and high cholesterol.  It's a great antioxidant. And has been known to restore physical strength. Apparently, eating too much of it raw can cause irritation to your stomach and digestive tract.  Also, storing it at room temperature in oil or too long in the fridge can form botulism. It can alter some medications, especially when garlic is taken in the pill form.

I haven't heard that garlic is better in a pill form, however.  I would think that eating it in your foods, raw, cooked or as an extract, is always better than any pill supplement.

    Thanks, Lola
