  1. it would depend on the geometry of the particular coin, a thicker coin would be more likely to land on its edge.

Also, some coins may not be able to balance on their edge if the have rounded edges or non perpendicular sides, the coin would have to have a perfectly flat edgeand have perfectly perpendicular sides reletive to the surface of the coin withing a tolerance proportional to the diamiter to even be a candidate of balancing on its side in the first place.

It would be impossible to calculate unless you knew the exact dimentions of the single coin in question, or information reletive to the average geometry of all coins in the world, which wouldnt be easy to attain.

to further complicate things, the speed to coin is rotatiing at in flight would also effect the chances of this happening.

  2. 2 to1.

  3. About the same as rolling a 13 in craps...

  4. ummm....u can try that out by rollin a coin  100 times(if u are reaaaly jobless) and counting the number of times it lands on its side and den divide that by hundred n u get ur odds out of 1

  5. 1 in 4,395,678

  6. There are no odds for this.  It would depend on how it is thrown, the kind of coin it is, the kind of surface it is landing on, and various other random factors.

Physics would suggest that if tossed properly, it would have too much rotational momentum to ever come to a rest on its edge.

  7. there are no odds.

  8. uhmmm, a very small chance. i've had ot happen once, but that was pure luck becuase the person threw it really wierd.
