What are the odds of a 4 of a kind being beaten by another 4 of a kind in texas hold em?

i was playing in a limit hold em game the other day and my 4 dueces got beat by 4 sixes. i was just curious if anyone knew the odds of this occurance?

  1. it happened to me once at a live game at the local casino, but it was ok cause I lost and won the badbeat pot of 4 grand..  Still the odds are insanely high that it wouldn't happen, but it IS possibly.


  2. If you're playing heads up, and you and your opponent both

    have a pocket pair, the probability is 44/C(48,5)=44/1712304

    =1/38916 or exactly 38915 to 1 against.

    You were probably NOT heads up; therefore, with two specific pocket pairs, it should be VERY slightly more likely for both of

    you to end up with quads if nobody else was in the pot

    (the board will be very slightly skewed towards having cards matching yours).
