  1. Hi,

    Some options,

either by taxi, or take RER B from Charles de gaulle heading to Gare du nord and then métro ligne  2 from Nation to Dauphine and stop at Anvers (Montmartre funiculaire) or Pigalle and go to Abesse station with ligne 12headind to porte de la chapelle it will last an hour about.

Take care of the different fees required, ask to someone from RATP it will be easier for you.

  2. From Charles de Gaule you can take line 2 towards Nation and get off at Pigalle.  Then you can take 12 towards Porte de la Chapelle and get off at Lamarck Caulaincourt.  From there, it is just a hike up the stairs in the metro and then turning around and walking up the stairs on the sidewalk, walking across Rue Caulincourt and then heading up a hill past several cafes and tourist shops.  (you may want to double check this for yourself using a map) There are signs which can guide you.  To tell the truth, I had no idea where I was going when I was in Paris, but Monmartre is really charming and I liked walking around the streets and taking it all in.

When I was in Paris this summer, I stayed in a hostel very near to the metro station which I mentioned.  Its true that there is an RER station right next to Sacre Coeur, but I did not want to have to worry about the different fares, so I went everywhere on the metro!  The subway system is complex, but it is also surprisingly easy to figure out because there are stations and metro maps everywhere!  Its also nice that you pay a flat rate for a ticket which you can use to ride the metro anywhere in Paris.
