I am trying to learn about my heritage being Italian and I can recall as a child my nonna telling me our heritage saying we were these three words but I have no idea were or where that puts of from. Can someone help me? I am going to spell them out as I remember them sounding...

She used to say we were Brutsaise? BROOT-SAISE? ...Nabledan?NAH-BLEE-DAHN? and Calabraise CALA-BRAISE. I beleive Calabraise makes us from Calabria?

I have no clue.

  1. It seems like "abruzzese", it refers to someone who comes from the region Abruzzo. The other word seems "napoletano" = from Naples.

  2. I know that Nabledan is Naples Italy.  My family is from there as well.  Sorry that's all the help I can offer.

  3. Napolitanos are from Naples but that could be just how you remember her saying the name. Try making an enquiry about your surname. You may find out some information. One of my great grandfathers emigrated from Paris in the late 19th century, but we were suprised to find out his surname was Italian, not French. Presumably his family must have migrated from Italy at some time before that.

  4. Brutsaise is "Abruzzese", one that comes from Abruzzo (a region).

Calabraise is "Calabrese", from Calabria (another region).

Nabledan is "Napoletano", from the city of Naples (Napoli), in Campania.

  5. I think your answers are:

    Abruzzo

    Campania (Naples, specifically)

    Calabria

  6. Stan is totally right, on all three...my family is from Sulmona in Abbruzzo...so we were "Bruts-aise"!

  7. brutsaise come from "abruzzo", nabledan come from "naples" and calabraise come from "calabria"..:)

  8. c***o..i don't remember nothing of english...

    sono una causa persa...
