A high voltage line is passing near my INDUSTRIAL PLOT . What are the disadvantages of it?

How far should the building be from an overhead passing wire?

  1. Have it close

    if you re wire the flourescent lighting so one wire earths them instead of connecting to the electric, you can have free light


  2. usually it's about 100mtr but that depends. in some place they allow the farmers to plant vegetables under this line to keep the ground clean. i've seen building close to this high voltage line almost less than 50mtrs.

    i read somewhere that it can cause cancer if work long hour everyday or stay nearby to high voltage line.

Depends on code, every area is different.  It also depends on which general building code you us, SBC, IBC, etc.  The most important aspect of the construction side is safety of the workers.  One of the leading causes of death each year in construction is a crane getting into power lines.  That is a huge potential law suit and OSHA fine, so take that into account along with code.  Then think if your industrial site will be using any cranes, and if your equipment will be interfered with the electrical field the power lines create.  Just things to keep in mind, but you need to talk to your local jurisdiction on the minimum distance.
