What are the parts of a map?

Regular map should contain

1. North indicator.

2. Longitudes and latitude lines.

3. Scale either in the ruler form in miles & km or ratio as 1:1million, or both.

4. Contours (lines or different colours) for Physical or relief map. Contour implies depths if it is sea. Mountain peaks with heights marked. clear political boundaries(or colour scheme) if it is a political map.

5. on a popular 'projection' depending upon the requirement.

6. All relevent and topical legends should be in lettering of appropriate sizes.
