  1. The cells in which it takes place are the palisade mesophyl, which is the interior of the leaves.

The chloroplast is the main component of a plant that go through photosynthesis. The stroma is where the dark reactions take place, and the thylakoid membrane is the site of the light reactions and electron transport chain. You can look this up on wikipedia or something for more info.

  2. True, the leaves do do the majority of the photosynthesis in plants, but anything green can do it as well, including meristems, sepals, the stem, and even green fruit.  These structures just don't do as much.  Anything with chloroplasts can photosynthesize, including algae and bacteria.

  3. leaves

  4. Most of the photosynthesis happen in the leaves because chlorophyll (the green pigment wherein photosynthetic reaction takes place) is concentrated there, but photosynthesis can happen in any part of the plant, as long as there is chlorophyll like in stems.
