  1. Plasticizers are additives that increase the plasticity or fluidity of the material to which they are added, these include plastics, cement, concrete, wallboard and clay bodies. Although the same compounds are often used for both plastics and concretes, the desired effect is slightly different.

To find out how they are used go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasticizer

  2. A substance added to plastics or other materials to make them more pliable

  3. You gun  plastisizers into the wall with an intrusment called a plaster gun and it is bassically doing the same thing you csan do with a hammer and some nails except using a  plastisizer is faster and more affeciant.

  4. They noun is PLASTICIZER (also PLASTICISER), and it means any of various substances added to plastics or other materials to make or keep them soft or pliable.  Many products need to be flexible and soft in order that they can take on a different shape, feel and form depending on their application. This is particularly true of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) which is often softened using such plasticisers as phthalates, adipates, trimellitates and citrates. 95% of plasticiser production is for PVC end-use.

Plasticisers are used in a wide range of applications from toys and babycare items, life-saving medical devices and cling wrap to flooring, wall coverings, electrical cables, automotive parts, packaging, stationery, coatings, the manafacture of clothing and footwear, and the application of concrete.  Small quantities of plasticisers are also used in paints, rubber products, adhesives and some cosmetics.

For example, for plastics the plasticisers soften the final product increasing its flexibility. For concrete the plasticisers soften the mix before it hardens, increasing its workability, and are usually not intended to affect the properties of the final product after it hardens.
