  1. There are only negatives to depression.

  2. Depression is something which never really goes away. The positives of going through an episode and coping are knowing that you will survive next time.

  3. Positive : When I am depressed I am in a hole but I am looking up at the stars  Negative:I am in that same hole and it is a cloudy night.  I do not mean to be glib but I have had depression on and off for a long time and I had to try and develop a sense of humour.   When you are feeling low just remember that it doesn't last and you have something to look forward to.  When it is good enjoy it and remember it.  We were never meant to be up there all the time everything has its opposite otherwise we wouldn't appreciate the good times.

  4. Posotive-attention (yes..people do stuff for attention. Admit it. We all do it-its human nature. Some benefits of depression is it gets attention from certain ppl. And you can be "babied" by some people who don't know any better) it can make you stronger. It takes strength to battle it. And you can take that strenght with you

When you get over it-you can help others who struggle by sharing your experiences...and you DO experience more hardships in life-bc you are more sensitive to things that people who don't struggle with depression or some kind of mental illness aren't

    Negative- it sucks

    You feel horrible

Revert to unhealthy things to try and 'self medicate'

It can cause suicidal tendencies and some ppl do succeed in acting on those thoughts/urges

You are more sensitive to certain things that wouldn't normally bother someone who doesn't struggle

There are many negatives and posotives that I didn't list

  5. It's very hard to judge what's positive... I always tend to fin d a positive and then analyse it so much it becomes a negative!

I always feel tired, stressed, put upon, i can get snappy, very insecure and often just sit and find it difficult to speak or move, Total apathy towards everything!

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Dummies is an excellent book to help you cope though

  6. There are no positive effects of depression, however there are ways of helping cope with it. From medication to speaking to a counselor.

  7. No positives depression and anxiety has ruined my life

  8. Thats like asking what are the positive side effects of gangrene, or a sinus infection. Huh!? None, it destroys lives!!

  9. Pro: you become self aware

    Neg: a feeling of 'finished'

  10. The positives of having something like depression is that being different and having to deal with it makes you stronger....

  11. Any one who thinks there are any positive things about being depressed has never been depressed! Depression does not have positive and negative effects. Schizoprenia has possitive and negative effects and depression is listed as a negative effect so how can someone think a negavive has a sub catogory of possitive I don't know?  As I said, they've obviously never been truely depressed.

  12. you think a lot about life which can be positive. But really everything looses its point and you give up hope.

  13. howe kan depresion hav +effect? depresion is siknes and siknes iz bad.

  14. pos : deep thought/creative thought

neg : stress, trauma, suicidal urges, fatigue, drug addiction, emptiness

  15. Personally I don't think there are any positives to depression. There are negatives such as feeling tired, lethargic, low mood, etc.

  16. There are no positive effects of depression.

  17. Positive: You are more aware of your thoughts and feelings.

Negative: shallowness, emptiness, fatigue, either loss of weight or weight gain depending on the person, indescisiveness, impulsiveness, drug/alcohol abuse, thoughts of suicide, feelings of unimportance, loss of self gratitude and the list goes on.

  18. If you consider it a learning experience to know the darkest depths of your own tormented soul that wants to die to end excruciating pain, you can have mine, take them, please.

If you consider it a learning experience to know hallucinations and delusions of death and dying, enticements to end self, of a broken brain playing the images of a depressive horror show, you can have mine, take them, please.

There is nothing positive about the depressions I've experienced.  If there once was, empathy for others in pain, they've been so far over shadowed as to make the pros meaningless.

  19. i like your thinking that there is a positive and negative - something that i generally agree with but had not associated with depression.

Pro: ... self awareness, not being led by the media hungry masses.

Con: self hate, no self worth, misery etc etc

    Good question!
