What are the possible causes of a White Poplar tree having leaves turn yellow then brown in just a few days?

What are possible causes for a White Poplar Tree in the high desert of Arizonia having its leaves turn yellow, and then brown, and start to fall in early August (besides lack of water) in just a few days time?

There are so many possibilities for that answer. It could be a fungus causing canker. If your tree has black spots on its with the branches dying back it has canker. If it does cut back the branches that have it. make sure to clean the pruners or what ever you use to prune the tree because it might spread it with the infected tool. You can also be over watering it some how. do you water it every day? Because that is bad too. Water it deep for maby 20-40 mins, leave the hose on low and let it soak. If its an established tree you don't really have to do this not even once in three weeks.
