What are the possible consequences for people living on and near the fault if there is a major earthquake?

  1. They will receive the highest energy (vibrations) to their homes.  They will risk receiving the most damage and destruction.  They will even risk literally falling into the earth if they are right on top of the fault line.

  2. If they are lucky (the earthquake does not occur while everybody is sleeping) they will be alive after the quake. Even then, more than 10% may died or be wounded.

    Their constructions, houses, buildings, infrastructures like roads will be destroyed.

    The reconstruction may take several years.

  3. I live in an Earth Quake Active Zone, Although bad things happen, and there are many mishaps. But normally the construction is different and is alot more strong.

But it is not necessary that earthquake should affect the nearby place only.according the geological condition the earthquakes may affect  distance places leaving the nearby place.
