  1. the simpleton answer is some version of War on Terror or other Clap trap that the Republican Apparatchik has bamboozeled the Gullible with!

The Neo-Con Junta in the WH have had their sights set on capturing the Iraqi OIL fields since at least 1987 or sooner as proffered in their Manifesto, Project for New American Century or PNAC, link below. It turned into a huge and profitable scheme to loot the American treasury by privatizing what should be Military operation!

  2. (Cons: please read the whole thing):To keep China from getting that Texas Tea. As long as the most oil rich region in the world is in turmoil, China has a hard time making deals on oil futures. There's much more history to this. You see Iraq was under colonial control of Britain until 1958. Then, they withdrew leaving a conservative Shia faction in place which angered the Sunni and Kurds. Thusly, a Sunni uprising ensued and the Kurds founded Kurdistan (Northern Iraq) sometime in the 70's. The Iranians (Shia) went to war with Iraq and the U.S. backed Sunni Saddam Hussein in the fight against Iran in 1978. Direct involvement by the U.S. would have prompted a war with Russia a major trade partner with Iran during the Cold War.  During the early 80's Russia was running out of natural resources due to the turmoil in the middle east. They needed oil...bad. They invaded Afghanistan to build a pipleline. Once again the U.S. intervened on the backside and trained and armed a Saudia Arabian conservative named Usama bin Laden. They armed him with Russian weaponry purchased by Egypt so it looked like the Afghani's and al Qaeda captured the weapons once again trying to stave a war with Russia via direct involvement in Afghanistan. The Afghani's and al Qaeda drove Russia out of Afghanistan on the condition that the Taliban would be put in power to restore a conservative Islamic state, which also helped Reagan's war on drugs since Afghanistan's number one crop is the purple poppy which ultimately is refined to heroin. Anyway, long story short...as long as this particular region is in turmoil and the commodity of crude oil is relatively hard to extract due to rogue nations, etc. It is harder for America's number one competitors to purchase oil futures to build their nation, infrastructure and military might. It's a pretty good plan, albeit. at the sacrifice of many lives.

  3. Don't you listen to the liberals--its all about oil.  We have so much oil now people are burning it in their fireplaces.  I am dumping my excess oil down the stormdrains now that I have so much.  Our nation is rolling in all the oil we got by going to war.

  4. Afghanistan - 9/11, al-Qaeda, the Taliban (these are two different organizations)

Iraq - The Hussein regime needed to be toppled sooner or later (do some research on how they tortured Olympic athletes, anyone who opposed them, genocide...bombing Kurds with chemical warfare), chemical/biological weapons sold to terrorist organizations and other countries, prevent a safe haven for many al-Qaeda operatives that were sneaking out of Afghanistan after we invaded there.

  5. Transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich!

  6. The real ones.

  7. Afghanistan - Retaliation against the Taliban and Al Qaeda for 9-11.

Iraq - Establish a stronghold in the Mideast to further combat terrorism.

  8. ok...its been said like a trillion times...WAR ON TERRORISM...both of those countries were pretty much the biggest sponsors and terrorist safe haven in the world...and unless you want another 9/11 on your hands keep on asking the same question...not saying that is impossible to not get attacked but it definetly decreases our chances of being attacked

  9. got to be about oil, and how do they get all us back ,the price of oil goes through the roof. we lost in the end

  10. To keep America safe from terrorism

  11. To drive left-wingers into drooling insanity.

It's worked very well, too well.

  12. Afghanistan - Harboring and refusing to turn over to justice international terrorists responsible for numerous strikes against the US both CONUS and OCONUS.

  13. Well let's see, we are in Afghanistan to fight the war on terror.  We are doing great there, but it is still very tough.  We are still fighting the Taliban, and if we leave, neighboring countries will take over, and the poor people will once again live in fear and pain.  We are in Iraq for the WMD and we got Sadaam out of power, so the country can move on.  We have captured so many bad people there, which is why the country is now running as a democracy.  If we leave, Iran will take over, and will threaten the U.S. It's so amazing how much of an impact we have made on Iraq! They tell our wonderful soldiers how blessed they are to have them there, and I thank our soldiers daily for putting their lives on the line.
