  1. Dude, I like answering your questions.

First of all, you should probably know that when you turn the system off, always hold down the power button with the light on it, then turn the ps3 off. Don't lug it around places in a loose bag or anything because it can get damaged and get shaken around. Don't put it in hot places where it's more likely to over heat. For the surface cleaning, just use a cotton cloth. DON'T USE WET CLEANER. It will probably brake the ps3 if you accidentally get it in the fans. Speaking of the fans, make sure all of the fans have space and that they aren't covered up by something. Also speaking of fans, if you be mine I'll be yours. Happy to help!

  2. Congratulations on your new precious PS3.

First of all you should by an external cooler( I ran mine for 12 hours, playing GTA4 all night),and it over-heated.

I had to use my 1 year warranty to get a replacement.

Second, don't ever move your console while there is a disc inside,as this will cause damage to the laser drive.

Most of all, keep dust away as much as possible, because Sony is known to reject repair work on neglected consoles.

God forbid you ever need to send it in for repair,so it is a good idea to have a spare(just kidding!)

Believe me it is torture to NOT have your precious to play with when it's in the shop.

Ps2 just don't cut it once your spoiled.

Look for me on GTA4 --Arrowrock

  3. Welcome to the dark side.

It doesn't matter which way you stand the console. However, I feel a little more secure with it horizontal so it doesn't topple over by accident.

It should be at least 4-6 inches from the wall. Just make sure you give the console some room to breath (the back and the very top with the vents).

Also, make sure you don't move the console with the disc spinning inside. Bad idea.

If you are unplugging the console or moving it around, flip the switch in the back to off. Just to feel a little more safe.

Be careful when cleaning dust off the console. It is a fingerprint and dust magnet. Use a cloth or something to clean it every once and a while.

    Enjoy your PS3. :)

  4. 1). Welcome to the club! :-)

2). Make sure it has 10 cm gap around it for proper ventilation

3). Cover it with a cloth (not plastic) when it's not on

4). Vacuum vent holes from time to time

5). Keep it in horizontal position

6). Surge protector is a nice idea

7). Don't use intercoolers - instead of cooling they can cause an overheat, because they don't let the internal cooling system work properly

8). If you're planning to put it in the cabinet - make sure there is no back wall (for better cooling, I had to chop mine out)

    9). Enjoy!

    ;-)

    Congrats on getting a PS3! :)

I'd put your PS3 in a horizontal position like everyone else said, it feels safer so that it doesn't accidentally topple over, plus it gives it better ventilation.

Keep your PS3 at least 4 inches away from the wall, yes, it matters.

Don't buy any of those intercoolers, they do more harm than good; they don't let the PS3's cooling system work properly.

As with all electronics, don't use any liquids to clean the PS3, just wipe it with a cloth.

  6. Horizantal is better for heat dissapation, they did some heat imagin on it.

A few feet from a wall on each side is best, just make sure the vents on the back, side n the little vents on the front.

just a microfibre cloth should do, n pass a hoover near the vents once in a while to clear out a bit of internal dust. dont use any liquids or sprays on it  directly, as with most electronics.

  7. well, first of all congrats..lol.. ok..it doesnt matter whether you keep it horizontally or vertically though, i put mine horizontally.. it shouldnt be close to the wall cause it will generate a lot of heat..yeah, dont put it on close area it should be on an open spaced area so it can breathe.lol.. And yeah, you can use any soft cloth to clean it, never use any chemical cleaning things..well yeah, thats it, happy playing.lol

  8. Distance form the wall doesn't matter, but its bad to put it in a closed off media center. They make it overheat very quickly.

Also, if dust begins to build up in the vents its a good idea to blow it out, or hoover it.

There is a very small difference between upright and horizontal, the heat escapes quicker if it is standing up. It doesnt really matter though.

To clean c**p off it just wipe it wth a cloth or tissue, dont spray anyhting on it.
