  1. Hi, here are some facts (all prices USD):

    1. Gas is reprice every two weeks, right now between 3.20 and 3.40 per gallon.

    2. Electricity 771 KWH = 155.97 USD (one month bill)

    3. Phone, premium plan all local minutes you want 32.95 USD, pay extra for calling celular 0.16 USD per minute, calling USA about 0.15 USD per minute.

    4. Internet + Cable TV : about 650 kb speed and 50+ tv channels (no premium movie channels HBO, etc) = 76.00 USD.

    5. Groceries: Here you can go up or down in the quality of what you want but I do schedule 300.00 USD every two weeks for a family of 4 (2 adults + 18 years old + one 11 years old) and I do believe that is between mid and high range where you buy.

    6. Retirees, men 60 and above, and women 55 and above, will get special discounts in several services (that you can google it, I have that info but is very lengthy).

    7. Weather wise I would recommend Costa Rica, i have been there and that I like. Temperatures in Panama fluctuate between 24 (night) and 31 (day) Centigrades in Panama City most of the year.

Hope you can get the info from Costa Rica. Something else ask Yahoo Answers or send me an e-mail.

Good Luck and hope you make the right decision no matter what it is!!

  2. Man... Panama is cheaper than USA or Canada or inclusive Mexico. I know that gas is a little bit more expensive than USA but the groceries are very cheap and you can have free internet (dial up) or I think you can pay 30$ for 1 mb. Electricity is kind of the same so. I hope this will answer your question.

  3. There, the life is so expensive. Remember the life in Central America is more expensive than Canada and United States, right there the basic services like gas, water and electricity are three or four time than Canada.

    Good Luck!!!!!

  4. Panama is pretty cheap!

i mean if i could convinve my boyfriend to move there it would be awesome we would be able to afford things and have our little business good enough to survive.

you can even buy like a juice and cookies with .25 cents. you can buy even little butter with .5cents and candy and stuff for less than a dollar. food is cheap comparing to the food here in usa. i dont renmber how much the gas is - i never use cars i always took the bus and taxi or walk. i used to use the internet on the internet cafe's and pay .50 cents for like an hour or two.

    Panama is CHEAPP!!!!

if you buy your own little land in el interior or close by the city and not the city you could grow your own food. rice - beans - coffee - oranges - mangos - and else have your own chickens and you wont really have to worry about buying food because you would be growing it yourself!

    i hope i help!

  5. Are you SURE you want to move to Panama?  It is hotter than Hades there year around!    Have you visited there?  I am a retired  American in Mexico..live up in the mountains where the weather never gets really hot.  I know some people don't mind hot weather, but Panama is REAALLY hot.  My utility expenses here are  about 1/10th what they were in Colorado...groceries close to same, except fruits and veggies, which are very cheap.  Hope you hear from some folks in Panama.

  6. I think people are going on what the world economy was decades ago..today the whole world is getting expense..my step son lives in Colombia S.A and most things there are about or more than where I live in Washington state...things like appiances and cars are sky high...we were going to move back to Colombia to retire but I can live on less right where Iam...if one is going to move out of the country they should go there on a month long vacation and really check it out...it might save some real hardships later..
