Does anyone know what kind of strings and the racket tension the pros use? Appreciate it if you list them down, eg: Federer, XX strings, XX lbs.

  1. I know that they greatly vary.  Most of the pros get the exact same raquet with the exact same strings and have a tension of maybe 50, 40 and 30, then the only adjustment they have to make is with the weight.

this site has ppl talking about federer's string tension

  3. Go to the following website:

    http://www.midwestsports.com/

On the right side of the page, there's a place where you can pick top pros and see their gear.  This will at least show you what strings they are using.

As far as tension, I don't think you'll find quite what you are looking for anywhere.  I would assume that many of them string relatively high in the tension range.  Probably not as extreme as Sampras stringing at roughly 75 lbs, which is far outside of the recommended range for his racquet.  Then again, I do know that there's a few pros who are notorious for using rather low tensions, too.

  4. Most professionals will use a hybrid string system with tensions between 50-55 (varying on either main or cross).

There are so many factors into fine tuning the string and tension selection we couldn't give you a definitive answer.

Just remember that unless you are a professional level player yourself don't try to copy what actual professionals use. It will only end up hurting your game.
