What are the pros and cons of a walking trail behind your house?

Question

The city wants to build a hiking/biking trail that would run along a creek behind our houses. What are the pros and cons of having a hiking/biking trail virtually in your back yard?

con: all the sickos out there will have a path to your house

well, there will be people in your yard,possibly hooligans,people littering, and possibly urinating there.

but if you put a waste basket back there and be friendly, you might make a few acquaintances. it would take a long time for litter to build up. if you have a dog it could wander off, or bark at strange people in its territory.

otherwise it could be nice.

I think it's great!  It will mean that nothing else will get built behind your house, so it will be nature!!!  The cons are you will have nosy people biking/walking by so you might want to get a security system installed if you don't already have one.  Also, kids/teens tend to hang out on these trails.

They have lots of these in my area, but i am not so lucky to have one behind my house.

Pros: Meet lots of new people who are using the trail and easier access to fitness

Cons: Lack of privacy and possibility for more crime due to the increase in traffic

I wouldn't be happy about it - it will give access to your property possibly by the criminal elements of our society

Con:  less privacy and more potential for litter, peeping toms, break ins, people stopping to use phone/bathroom.

A pro: it would potentially add to the aesthetics and benefit of the community---if maintained.

A con: Depending on the community, it could potentially be a breeding ground/location for the solicitation of illegal acts of various kinds.
