  1. They're very good cars. Their resale prices are low, because ongoing out of warranty maintenance is high and frightens  lot of people. Most likely, they'll run forever with little care, but if they do need something, it is likley to be expensive, especially on the beautiful CL.

  2. The pro is your buying a car with a name that was one of the best in the world.

The con is you have the name but not the quality and longevity..

  3. i love mercedes there fast, comfortable, and safe, and yes they are expensive to fix but thats just something u have to sacrifice,i would personally go with the s550 because of space and better quality and looks

    HOPE THAT HELPS   =}

  4. I think Mercedes are excellent cars. Reliability for the models you are looking at arent exactly the best, however they are very rewarding cars to drive. Yes, they are expensive to fix, but if you can afford to buy a Mercedes, you should be able to fix it too. Mercedes are beautiful cars like no other!

  5. Go for S Klasse. Safety, but don't do like most people and trade them at 100,000 miles. These cars if maintaned gasoline engine will run over 400,000 miles, new diesels 500,000 miles.

  6. I own a 2005 C230 and love it! Yes they can be expensive to repair, but if you look at your one time cost compared to that over time for domestic vehicle you'll see the difference. I recently took my car in for the Mercedes B Service. It ran $300. However, most cars have scheduled maintenance that is explained to the buyer at the time of purchase. I previously owned a Toyota that scheduled main. at different mileage intervals just as Mercedes. Those usually ran $250-$300. More often than not people don't take their cars in for those and forget. One nice thing about my c230 is that you only get an oil change every 12,000 miles. At $80 a service once a year compared to my old car's $45 every 3,000 miles my Benz is the better price. It is the one time charges that everyone freaks out about. Bottom line TAKE CARE of it and you will be fine. Just like any other car. From the late 1990's through, around 2004 they didn't have the best reputation, but they have since improved. Oh- the only down side, some REQUIRE premium gas so be prepared to pay an avg. of 20 cents a gallon. (In the end it isn't that big of a deal).

  7. It's nice to have a Mercedes if you're lucky enough not to have any problems with it.  But if you're like the majority of owners, you will encounter numerous electrical problems -- nothing that will probably endanger your life, but something that will bother you enough that your car will be in and out of the dealership.  If you don't believe me, just go to the service entrance of a dealership and see how crowded it always is.

If you had to pick one of the two, it really depends on what you want from the car.  An S-class is a great, comfortable family car, but a CL is a little sportier.  Don't ask us, drive them for yourself!

  8. Both cars are bona fide status symbols, but there are very few CL-Class cars built, so it is more exclusive. It is also about $30,000. more than an S-Class.

In spite of what some people believe the S-Class and CL-Class share very few common components. In the 1990's and earlier Mercedes produced the S-Class in 4-door and 2-door models, but the CL-Class is a stand-alone vehicle with a different chassis and suspension than the S-Class. It is a full-size luxury sports car. It is also shorter than the S-Class, and is easier to maneuver in city traffic and parking lots. The CL will also hold it's value very well, better than an S-Class since there are very few produced, and reliability is vastly improved in models built after 2003.

The pro's of buying a Mercedes vehicle: It is unmatched in its combination of luxury, safety and performance. In a high-speed crash yiou are more likely to walk away from a Mercedes than any other vehicle, peroid. It is recognized as the best-engineered brand anywhere.

The con's;  maintenance costs will be higher than some other vehicles, but the safety of your friends, clients, and family is worth the investment.

  9. they are nice cars but

they are expensive to own and repair.

they are targets for thieves and vandals.

  10. there are WEIGH to many pros for me to list.( you will turn heads, earn respect, have a well made car, drive a REAL luxury car, get your moneys worth, etc etc etc)

Cons- If something goes wrong with it it will cost alot of money (they say, I never have had any major problems with my Mercs) and you should most def take it to the dealer for manatice when the car says to.

Personailty I like the S class better, the CL is just to round.

  11. No pros.

    They're expensive (overpriced) to buy.

If you get dealer service it's VERY expensive (overpriced).

If you use an independent shop, it will still be expensive because the parts are overpriced.

You'll be in the shop often because they have alot of problems, and they're rarely minor problems, meaning, that anytime you show up at the dealer they'll bang you for at least $800---- MINIMUM.

  12. The cars are very similar as many components are shared between both vehicles so it essentially comes down to styling preference.  The CL is not as common so you would stand out a little more in traffic.  However, being a large 2-door coupe, the CL may not be as practical for you compared to the 4-door S-Class sedan.

The pros:  they are both great cars, very comfortable and luxurious to drive.

The cons:  like pretty much every other car out there, it is a guaranteed money loser due to depreciation.  Since the cost of entry is quite high, the amount of money lost will be higher as well.

EDIT:  Asteroid, look up basic components in your parts catalogue such as brakes, suspension control arms, radiator, etc.  for both the 215 and 216 chassis ( previous and current generation CL models ).  What you will quickly notice is that many of the 215 chassis parts use 220 part numbers and the 216 chassis parts use 221 part numbers ( the 220 and 221 chassis being the previous and current generation S-Class 4 door sedan respectively ).

While the CL may have its own chassis number, it is designed alongside the S-Class and shares many of its basic components with its 4-door sibling.
