What are the pros and cons of getting broadband internet?

I just got a lap top and I really hate using Wifi. But people say that broad band is expensive. Which do you think is better and why?

Wifi is just wireless networking (main reason for having a laptop is portablility)

Broadband is anything that isnt dial up. So.. the question is kind of null.

Cable/DSL/AirCard is really the only options for "broadband" internet.

Dsl is slower than cable but cheaper

Cable is faster (generally) than DSL, but usually more expensive

AirCard (I.e. Verizon) is a PCIMIA card that plugs into your laptop giving you wireless signal anyweres there is signal (I use this and go from state to state)

I think you are talking the same thing here.  Wi Fi is wireless Internet which is a way to access Broadband.

You get Broadband at your house (DSL or cable) and then you can put in a wireless router. Either way you have to pay.

Another way is to connect using a device that you get from a cellular company that plugs into your laptop.  This gives you access but is slower than Wifi/Broadband

ok first of all wifi and broadband are two different things.. wifi is simply when someone has connected a router to the modem.. the router could be connected to a broadband modem, or a dsl modem. i would reccomend getting comcast internet with a linksys router. fast, not too expensive, easy to use.

You call a cellphone company and get an account that gives you a cellular device that connects to your laptop.  Then you're connected anywhere there's a cellphone signal from that provider.  (Verizon probably has the widest coverage, with AT&T a close second.)  It's not cheap.

Wifi is replacing the wire from your modem to your laptop with a radio - the range is about 100 feet.

Broadband is either DSL or cable - it's wire coming into your home.
