  1. are we talking queen elizabeth 1st of scotland or england? there is a difference as QE2 is actually only the first QE of scotland

  2. Well her reign sparked the Elizabethan era also called the "golden age".. the height of the renasainnce in england where great literature and poetry came...this was also the time when William Shakespeare created all of his works.. It was a peaceful time for the country which had been through some turbulence...exploration was at a high ...the first colony was attempted..the main con would be her not marrying to produce an heir and therefore ending the tudor reign...

  3. Do you mean back in 1500s with Queen Elizabeth I or the current one?

Assuming you mean the first one, it was back in post medieval, renaissance era so the crimes of punishment were far from humane and even England had a very conservative idealism of the church running the country.

Pro: Well at least it wasn't back in the media soaked era and people could get by with a lot more, even the queen could :)

  4. One of the major pros to her government was that she kept England out of war, that would have been detrimental to society and the coffers. She also calmed down the people. In the last century they had gone from Catholic to Protestant, to Catholic and then to Protestant. One of her most know quotes talks about not looking into men's souls. Basically as long as you pretended to go to Anglican church you could have mass in your home and be fine.  QEI kept a stable economy and populous as well as keeping peace, for the most part, with other countries. She did have that incident with the spanish armada. She also allowed England to set up colonies in the new world. Overall she was a fair queen. The cons as far as I can tell are that she didn't have an heir. This caused the throne to be passed to some of her cousins. She also had some problems with Mary Queen of Scots and Spain of course.
