  1. I'm not an expert but I'll probably know more after this next school yr because I have been asked to take a special ed class.  I've always been told by my fellow teachers that special ed teachers get a lot of good technology in their classrooms, books, manipulatives, an aide to help you, etc. This is dus to the type of kids you will have because they have special needs and the govt is required to meet their needs! Also, if you are certified spec ed you get paid a little more.

  2. I would say that a pro is that you really get to help people who really need some help.  A con is that a special education classroom can be a dumping ground for students who just plain misbehave.

Also there is a lot of paper work involved because you have to prove to the government that you are in fact assisting students who have special needs.

It is an interesting job however in that every student is special and different and you will need to find out what exactly will help some students to be successful.
