  1. The younger the better as they have had less chance to develop the unneutered dog tendencies. 8 months to 11 months? I see not much of a difference personally. Kudos to you for considering neutering.

  2. The older it gets the more blood vessel developement, therefor can bleed more and/or be more sore after wards. Older dogs will also be heavier, so they will take more anaesthetic and be more expensive.

Really though, 11 months is still perfectly fine!

  3. Per my vet it is better to neuter a dog between 10 and 12 months.  She likes to wait so the males hips develop more - he will not look as "girlie" from behind - the hips are developed/widened.

I asked if it causes the dog more pain or bleeding and it does not.  My

Aussie was neutered at 11 months and he is perfectly normal, it did not take him longer to heal then my male German Shepherd that was neutered at 6 months (different vet then), and he does look less girlie compared to the GS.

Ask which age your vet perfers.  You are doing the right thing by neutering your dog - regardless of age.

  4. you should wait till your dog is a little older cause sometime it hurts the dog.

  5. Neutering a male eliminates the possibility of testicular tumors and greatly reduces the chance of prostate problems. Neutering decreases the incidence of perianal tumors and hernias, which are commonly observed in older, unaltered males. Neutered males are less likely to try to escape a yard to find a female in season. This reduces the likelihood of them being hit by cars, getting into fights or lost. (Neutering is no substitute for a securely fenced yard, however).

Spaying and neutering before sexual maturity also offers a temperament benefit. Males neutered early in life tend to be less aggressive and less distracted. Neutered males are less likely to scent mark (real problem when they decide to mark inside the house).

I can think of any cons to neutering.
